General questions
Both the Integra and the Ultra are designed to operate
on site and short range. Expect to achieve around 50 to
80 metres maximum. This is so that the transmitter does
not draw massive current from the units that they are
installed in to. We have signal boost repeaters to
extend the range.
If you use a signal boost repeater then the repeater in
open air (outside) will go up to 2 miles. However, once
you bring the repeater inside a building, depending on
the building and its contents that range can and will be
reduced. Typically on a 1/2 square mile installation we
recently used four repeaters, but bear in mind that this
is purely a 'rule of thumb' and all installations will
vary with the requirements of signal boost repeaters.
The DeafSafe Integra draws very small current and needs
a 5 volt supply. Any fire alarm system that uses dry
contacts to trigger (either open or closed) can work
with the DeafSafe Integra.
If you are working on larger system such as networked
fire alarm solutions then the Ultra could be for you. We
support up to 4 dry contacts in the unit for various
paging (such as the deaf person or even an engineer on
site) requirements. The PSU and case assembly we utilise
is compliant so you could use the Ultra for those type
of systems. But the fact remains that you could actually
use the Ultra for any deaf person fire alarm paging
solution.
The Integra and the Ultra both have four dry contacts
that can be set to normally open or normally closed or
any combination.
There is no limit to the number of signal boost
repeaters that you can have on site. Each repeater is
placed 'within range' of another repeater and then that
repeater will 'pass on' the page signal to the next
repeater and so on.
If you only use the Integra or Ultra by itself then you
do NOT need a paging license. HOWEVER, if you do use a
signal boost repeater in your susyem you WILL need a
license. The good news is, that we can submit the
application for you and the cost of the license is just
£75.00 for five years. We also manage the licenses for
you so when they are near expiry we contact you
regarding the renewal.
The DeafSafe™ equipment is completely legal for the
United Kingdom. The equipment is CE approved and RoHS
compliant also.
All warranty is handled from our UK office (this site is
operated by them) and all technical support is also from
this office. Warranty is three years against
manufacturers defect issues and you will need to call us
for an RMA number before you return any equipment.
